Vintage nursery design is a huge passion of mine because it truly creates a warm and comforting environment for baby and parents! In this blog post, I break down my top 10 vintage baby cribs to bring old world charm to babies nursery!

Get Me There:

What Is a Vintage Baby Crib?

There are a lot of crib styles that can be considered vintage. For instance, mid century modern is considered vintage and is a quite different look from an antique style Victorian era crib. Cribs that look vintage are often made from older materials such as wood or brass. If you want a crib that looks vintage, steer clear of cheap materials like composite or plastic.

NEVER Do This One Thing…

NEVER use an actual vintage or antique crib for your baby! Cribs on the market today go through rigorous safety testing to ensure the crib is breathable, comfortable, and most importantly SAFE for newborn- older babies. It is NEVER safe to let your baby sleep in a device that hasn’t been tested or reviewed by the CPSC and other regulatory boards.

Thankfully, there are a lot of ADORABLE options on the market that mimic vintage cribs SO you can still get the look you love!

4. MCM Vintage Wood Crib

I have a knack for working some MCM pieces into my very vintage English style home. MCM stand for mid century modern, referring to the sharp angles and architectural pieces of the mid 1900’s. MCM is still considered vintage and I think these boxy cribs can be the perfect addition to a vintage style nursery!

I posted a few examples of this style of crib above! Below you’ll find links to this style of crib for all price points!

5. French Country Upholstered Crib

This crib by Pottery Barn Kids is SO pretty and unique. I also found a GORGEOUS and almost identical dupe from Wayfair, linked below!

6. Parisian Canopy Crib

If you really want to make a vintage statement, consider this Parisian canopy crib! This crib is so next level and LUXE. I’d keep the rest of the nursery simple. Beautiful, breezy linen fabrics, a light neutral rug and some beautiful antique nursery art! I think this could be INCREDIBLE and so truly vintage.

7. Antiqued Gold Crib

This gold metal crib is similar to #1, but with the more traditional high back crib shape. This shape is perfect if you want the crib to be the main statement piece along the wall. It also is helpful if you want to hang art over the crib but want it to be high enough for bigger babies to not reach.

10. Classic Spindle Jenny Lind Crib

I saved my favorite for last. This is the classic Jenny Lind crib and it’s significantly cheaper than the Crate&Kids crib linked on #2. As you can see in the examples above, there are SO many ways you can style this crib. Gorgeous, simple, and SO easy to paint. You could easily repaint for your next baby and reuse!

I’ll let you in on my top secret about these cribs: Facebook Marketplace! The crib in the picture above I got for $30 and painted it! I usually try searching: Jenny Lind Crib, Spindle Crib, Vintage Jenny Lind crib, etc…

Here is this crib linked from a few different places. The black style tends to be sold out frequently.
