Meet Cassie

Most often found with a baby on the hip, a triple espresso in hand, and a triple recipe of sourdough bread proofing on the counter, Cassie started this blog as a resource for other busy moms to unite over too-cold cups of coffee, half-finished DIY projects and vintage home design. Cassie brings over 10 years of dedicated passion for home design and DIY expertise to this creative space. Having collaborated with numerous clients to design creative spaces, she understands the intricacies of turning houses into homes. Her hands-on experience and keen eye for detail make her a trusted guide in the realm of crafting homes with character and soul.

Whether you’re a seasoned DIY enthusiast or a newcomer eager to explore the art of vintage home design, Cassie invites you to create a home with soul, where each corner resonates with the warmth of a well-crafted narrative.

Home design and I go way back… I come from a family of avid DIY’ers, penny pinchers, and thrift shoppers. Being 1 of 8 children, we didn’t have much growing up, but my mom always took the time to create a warm and cozy home.

Her tricks were: lighting candles, doilies and for some reason, I remember a lot of potpourris. I mean, it was the 90s…

I graduated with my nursing degree after years of studying, scraping pennies together, and lots of laughs and tears.

I began my first nursing job with a 1-year-old and another baby on the way. Within a year of starting my first job, Covid-19 hit the US.

I was surrounded by infected COVID + patients, and I was exhausted and burned out.

During this challenging time, I continued to pursue my passion for designing unique spaces. I began to take on client design projects as more and more people approached me to help them design spaces.

Just months after the birth of our third child, I finally started the Cassie Jean Blog.

With over 10 years of design experience and countless DIY projects under our belts, I felt the pull to create this blog as a resource for other busy parents DIY’ing their homes on a budget.

Here, I hope to inspire my readers to infuse their homes with unique, vintage style that breathes life into even the most builder-grade of homes!

I met the love of my life at 18 years old. We were truly young, dumb, and broke but completely in love and life was heavenly.

Our first apartment was 600 square feet of garish beige paint and yellow-ey carpet. We ate at a card table and hung the two wedding pictures we had on the wall.

My home design journey began…

In 2021, we bought our first home, a 2010’s builder-grade craftsman!

This home truly was a blank canvas that I immediately began to design every inch of.

Living in a builder-grade home is a unique challenge. It doesn’t have the “bones” of a gorgeous old home and the timeless charm has to be added in.

Home takes time… Some 25 DIY projects later we are just scratching the surface… But we’ve loved every second!
