9 Cheap or Free Last Minute Halloween Decorations
In this post I’m breaking down some super fast and easy halloween decor ideas that are either cheap or free!
Halloween has never been my top holiday. I’m not a big costume girl and like Jim from the Office, I usually scramble at the last minute to find something suitable.
Since moving to our new neighborhood, I noticed a lot of our neighbors deck out their homes with skelatons, ghosts and spooky inflatables. So this year, I decided I wanted to do some very minimal halloween decor that could easily transition to my regular fall decor.
My biggest goal: Make it cheap. All these options cost under $10 and most are free/made from things you have around your house!

1. Stick On Bats
You’ve probably seen these cute bats all over Tiktok and when I saw how cute and cheap these were I had to jump on the band wagon. So easy and cute on a front door, mirror or window! I’ve also seen people make these from black construction paper, but at only $6 on Amazon for a whole pack, this is a steal!
2. Cloth Napkin Ghosts
These are cute and likely free if you have white cloth napkins, white cheese cloth or really any white fabric! Since I was using my antique white cloth napkins, I used black construction paper cut outs for the ghost faces and double sided tape. Make a bunch of these and attach them to twine to make a garland!
3. Leaf Ghosts
Liz Marie has the best and cutest halloween ideas! I’m obsessed with these little leaf ghosts. I have children so I obviously already had acrylic paint and we had fun picking out the leaves and painting them together.
4. Cardboard Man in the Moon
I have to give full credit to Eryn Whalen Online for this one! I’ve seen this cutie man-in-the-moon sign over the years and have always thought it was the CUTEST. Eryn created a free stencil to easily create this sign on a piece of plywood! SO creative and cute. If you don’t have the capability to cut out a wood round, you could just use a study piece of cardboard!
5. Halloween Prints
Simply search for FREE Halloween art/printable. I simply reprint various free images at the size of some of my current decor frames and slide them in front of my usual art. It adds a fun halloween twist without costing me a dime! HERE is the one I used above!
7. Construction Paper Witches Hats
Yet another brilliant and easy way to embellish your existing art work and photos via Liz Marie Blog! I used construction paper and a stencil I made on Canva to create these cute hats! CLICK HERE to use the same stencil I created. It’s offered in several sizes.
8. Paper Ghosts
A lot of my art work is more nature/scenic so I had the idea to cut out little ghosts that I could add the scene! I used plain white paper and another stencil I made on canva for these. So cute and cheap! CLICK HERE to download my little ghost stencil!
9. Dollar Tree Shopping Spree
I found these cute little neutral skulls and some other items like cob webbs and mummy cloth at my local dollar tree for obviously a dollar each. They may get damaged when it rains but at only a dollar each – Totally worth it! Click HERE to see how I used them for a simple halloween front porch.
